Our goal for the Library at Free Union is to instill a love for reading in our students that will last a lifetime.
We use our time to help students build their listening and discussion skills while at the same time encouraging them to become independent in selecting books and researching projects. For our younger students and developing readers, the emphasis is on using the library, exploring genres, and selecting books. By the time our students reach 2/3 and 4/5 we use library as a way to build our students’ skills in research and reading comprehension. We want students to sharpen their library skills, foster a love of reading, apply what they learn, and feel comfortable using any library as a powerful learning resource.
