Free Union students prominent among 2016 Bird Conservation Poster Contest winners!

Among 82 entries in the Charlottesville area schools, The Monticello Bird Club and the Blue Ridge Young Birders Club honored three Free Union classes and two students.

Our second and third grades won for the collection of posters that addressed threats to avian life and creative solutions. In the Individual competition Tilda in 2nd and Christiana in 3rd won; each will receive a pair of binoculars. A full list of winners can be found on the Blue Ridge Young Birders website. Gratitude to teachers Leah Montgomery, George Mackronis, and Blair Amberly for their key role in furthering conservation education at Free Union Country School.
