Administration
Carolyn Lawlor, Director
Carolyn has worked for more than thirty years in independent schools as a teacher and administrator at the early childhood and elementary levels. In 1989 she was awarded a fellowship to pursue advanced studies in child development at The Erikson Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Carolyn has one son, two dogs and a cat. She is passionate about progressive education, primitive antiques, public radio, 1949 Chevy pick-up trucks, parental involvement in schools, natural fibers, Bach and bluegrass music, all things green, time to read, and the history of the Plains Indians and the Oregon Trail.

Martha Maclay, Business and Facilities Manager

Martha has been employed at Free Union Country School since 1990. Her relationship with the School began as a parent in 1986. A few years later she began working as an assistant teacher in the Kindegarten/1st grade class and taught math at various levels until 1986. Since then she has worked in the Administration. Martha lives in Free Union with her husband, several cats and a dog, has three grown children and a granddaughter.

Jolee Nail Horn, Admissions/Communications Coordinator

Jolee has worked at Free Union Country School since 1992. Her contributions to the School include directing Admissions, organizing Special Events and School Programs, removing splinters, reminding children to wear sunscreen, and driving an ever-changing carpool. Jolee and her husband have two daughters who are alums of Free Union. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, knitting, collecting fabric (making something with it too!), enjoying children and children's literature.
